Uniform and Purchase

Uniform

Uniform may be purchased directly by visiting Fonteyn Ballet Supplies Ltd (see www.fonteyn.com.hk for address) or ordered through EncoreBallet

We suggest you go to Fonteyn when purchasing uniform for the first time so that sizes may be checked. Any subsequent purchases stating requested size may be made through EncoreBallet.

Please order by Monday morning of the 1st and 3rd week each month; uniform will then be available for collection during classes that week.

For trial classes we recommend that your child wears clothes which allow for comfortable movement. After the trial lesson, if you decided to register for classes, the school uniform may be ordered/purchased.

The Ballet Bun

The Ballet Bun

Ballerinas style their hair into a classical bun to create a clean and elegant line through the neck and to ensure wayward strands of hair do not distract from their dancing.

Girls in all ballet classes are encouraged to have their hair as neat as possible for lessons to keep it from flying into their faces, particularly when performing pirouettes and turns.

Fine hair nets and pins may be ordered by sending a message to uniform@encoreballet.dance stating your daughter's hair colour so that the net may be matched correctly.

Here are some top tips for a perfect Ballet Bun!

Fine Bristle Brush

Spray or wet the hair with water and brush into a smooth pony tail with a fine bristle brush

Good Elastic Hairband

Tie into ponytail with a hairband and tighten until snug against the head; make sure the band wraps around enough times to hold the hair securely

Water or Hair Gel

Apply more water or hair gel

(for performances or exams)

to keep the hair neat

Twist Hair and Coil

Twist the ponytail and then gradually coil the hair around  to form a bun; a hairpin can be used to secure the end

Fine Hair Net

Wrap a fine hair net which matches the dancer's hair colour around the bun; it will be big enough to twist and wrap multiple times

U-shaped pins

Place the pins at a 90 ° angle just at the very edge of the bun. Scoop the pins into the bun so that they lie flat against the head
